We are happy to have taken part in the design proces towards a new Bertelsmann Stiftung survey that finds broad support for European digital alternatives, greater European control over key technologies and secure, reliable access to public services.
CIFS is part of the European Network for Technological Resilience and Sovereignty (ETRS), with futurist Bugge Holm Hansen as our anchor in the network. Founded in 2025, ETRS brings together research expertise from across Europe to build a shared understanding of digital sovereignty and translate it into practical policies that strengthen Europe’s technological independence.
The network includes many of Europe’s leading think tanks, research centres and organisations. Among them are the Bertelsmann Stiftung, CEPS, Chatham House, the AI & Society Institute, the European Council on Foreign Relations, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre, TUM Think Tank, the Polish Economic Institute, the European Space Policy Institute, ARTICLE 19 and the IE University Global Policy Center.
As part of this work, CIFS took part in the co-design process behind a new Bertelsmann Stiftung survey of citizens in all 27 EU member states. ETRS members and experts developed the survey questions together.
