Hannes has a background in Political Science with a particular interest in geopolitics and the European security landscape. Given these interests, he wrote his bachelor thesis on the implications of the Ukraine war on EU defence cooperation. Apart from this, Hannes also has a specific interest in analysing the ways in which Nordic societies converge and diverge.

Whenever Hannes is not discussing geopolitics, he likes going for long walks to admire beautiful architecture and well-executed urban planning. Besides that, he enjoys reading Russian classics. His favourite character from Russian classical literature is Levin from Anna Karenina.
