  • Overview of the Six Pillars Approach to Futures: Gain an understanding of the Six Pillars framework in futures studies and its application in analyzing and addressing current and future challenges in personal, organizational, and societal contexts.
  • Conceptual and Embodied Understanding of Causal Layered Analysis (CLA): Develop a deep, both conceptual and embodied, understanding of CLA and its use in analyzing and resolving systemic, organizational, and personal issues. Learn to deconstruct current worldviews and reconstruct alternative futures for transformation.
  • Capacity to Analyze and Develop Preferred Vision and Policy for Institutions and Organizations: Learn to use futures thinking and foresight methodologies to develop a strategic vision and policy for institutions, enabling them to navigate uncertainties and create a sustainable, preferred future.

Meet Your Course Facilitators

Professor Sohail Inayatullah

Sohail Inayatullah, a political scientist and futurist, is the UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies at the Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity, International Islamic University Malaysia - IIUM, Malaysia.

He is also Professor at Tamkang University, Taiwan, and Associate, Melbourne Business School, the University of Melbourne. He teaches from www.metafutureschool.org, where his courses include Become a Futurist and Personal Futures: the CLA of the Self.

He is listed in the top two percent of the world's scientists as measured by the highest impact of citations. His most recent books include CLA 3.0, The End of the Cow and Other Emerging Issues, and Asia 2038.

Dr. Ivana Milojevic

Dr. Ivana Milojevic is a Senior Lecturer in Futures, Edinburgh Futures Institute. A leading thinker in futures studies, with a background in sociology, gender studies, peace studies, and education. Ivana is also Director of the Metafuture think tank.

She has facilitated futures-oriented work with a wide range of organizations. She was also an Adjunct Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia and a Visiting Professor at Tamkang University in Taiwan and the University of Novi Sad in Serbia.

Her research focuses on the exploration of how societies, communities, and individuals envision alternative futures and create preferred futures; educational futures and transformative pedagogies; educational practices that promote peace and social justice; and the role of gender dynamics in societal change and development.

Course Modules

  • Module 1: Introduction to Futures Thinking and Foresight Methodologies: Gain a foundational understanding of the Six Pillars of Futures and how to use these methodologies to address real-world challenges.
  • Module 2: Causal Layered Analysis: Dive deep into the CLA framework to uncover the different layers of reality and develop new narratives that support transformative change.
  • Module 3: Conflict Transformation Through Futures Thinking: Explore the role of futures thinking in resolving both personal and organizational conflicts, using the future as a resource to manage and prevent current issues.
  • Module 4: Creating Preferred Futures: Learn how to create actionable strategies that align with your vision of a better future, while addressing the uncertainties and complexities of today's world.
  • Module 5: Applying Futures Thinking to Personal and Professional Life: Discover how to leverage futures thinking to resolve internal conflicts, improve relationships, and develop strategies for long-term success.

Format

The course takes place over one full day at our location in Copenhagen. 

This intensive masterclass is designed for maximum engagement, consisting of presentations, case studies, and interactive sessions led by Professor Inayatullah. Participants will have the opportunity to work through real-world cases, engage in deep discussions, and experiment with the methodologies in a supportive and collaborative environment.
