Sofie Hvitved is a Futurist and Senior Advisor specialising in the intersection of communication, technology, and society. As Head of Media at the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, she explores how emerging technologies such as AI and immersive solutions are shaping the way we interact, communicate, and navigate an AI-mediated information ecosystem.
Sofie is recognised as a leading voice in understanding the societal impact of technological change. She is passionate about helping organisations ask the right questions and prepare for a future defined by innovation and complexity. Her focus spans strategy development, megatrend analysis, and the ethical considerations of new technologies.
An experienced keynote speaker and moderator, Sofie has delivered insights at major conferences such as SXSW, Cannes Next, TechBBQ, and World News Media Congress, as well as for organisations including Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), and European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Her talks address topics like the future of communication, AI, immersive technologies, and megatrends impacting business and society. She is also part of facilitating the CIFS course ‘
Futures & Foresight with AI’.
Sofie holds an MA in Media Science from Aarhus University and has a strategic background in the media and technology industries, including her work at the Danish National Broadcasting Corporation (DR) as Project Lead for New Media Days. She is also a member of the Danish Media Board (2022–2026) and has served on several international juries, including the INMA Awards and the CPH:DOX Interactive Award.
Sofie’s career spans consultancy projects worldwide, where she applies her broad theoretical and practical expertise in media, communication, and technology. Having lived and worked across Europe and South America, she now resides in Copenhagen with her family.
